January 2019 Events in the LBA Woods

Friday, January 11, 1-3 p.m. Shinrin-yoku Interpretive Program

Shinrin-yoku is a Japanese term that means “taking in the forest atmosphere” or “forest bathing.”  Join long-time environmental educator and state-park ranger, Kathy Jacobsen, for this very special walk in the LBA Woods. Participate in sensory activities as we wander and “take in” the forest atmosphere.  We’ll meet in LBA Park (exact location TBD). Hot tea and cookies afterward.

This event is for ages 12 and up and is limited to 15 participants. Please reserve your spot by contacting Maria Ruth, Friends of LBA Woods, at mariaruthbooks@comcast.net. The walk will be offered rain or shine This walk is rain or shine, but will be cancelled in high winds. Please check this blog for cancellation notice. Please dress warmly as this is more a meditation than a walk.

Saturday, January 26: 9-10 a.m. Hour Power Walk.

Join Maria Ruth, Friends of LBA Woods, for a brisk walk along the newly re-connected trail east of the water tower.  We’ll meet at the main (east) parking lot in LBA Park and head into the woods from there. This walk is rain or shine, but will be cancelled in high winds. Please check this blog for cancellation notice.
