September 15 Rally for Parks (August 31)

FullSizeRender(44)

The LBA Woods Park Coaltion is hosting a rally for Olympia parks on Tuesday, September 15 at 7 p.m. This is a critical time for our parks. Along with several other parks-advocates groups, we are in full swing campaigning for Proposition 1 to establish a Metropolitan Parks District in Olympia.

Prop 1 will be on the November 3rd ballot for voters in the City of Olympia. It’s our big chance to restore the 2004 funding for new park acquisition and to secure a reliable source of revenue for much-needed park maintenance and operation. The Metro Parks District is not a funding mechanism for acquiring the LBA Woods, but increases our chances of doing so. The goal of the Metropolitan Park District is to fund Olympia’s 30+ parks all across the city.

Please join us at Washington Middle School (3100 Cain Rd. SE Olympia) to find out the latest on LBA Woods acquisition, to learn about Proposition 1—Metropolitan Parks District for Olympia, and to be a part of this win-win ballot measure. We have only 9 weeks until the November 3 election–ballots will be mailed in mid-October. We need all hands on deck to help pass Prop 1–spreading the word via doorbelling and distributing fliers in your neighborhood, posting signs in your workplace, posting your support for Prop 1 on social media, and/or making a financial contribution.

Meanwhile….please visit YesOlympiaParks for information on the Metro Parks District and to add your name to the long list of Olympians endorsing Prop 1.

At the September 15 Rally for Parks, bring your questions, your love for parks, and your can-do spirit. (And your appetite for Olympic Mountain ice cream.)
